"Somethings" Happening in the Studio

Happy September! Who else is ready for Fall? It's been in the nineties this week in Iowa, but I've got the vanilla pumpkin candle burning and served up my first batch of chili for guests at a recent dinner party. Bring on the cooler weather!
With this new season comes new things happening in the studio. I'm finishing up summer projects and jumping into, believe it or not, the holiday season prep.
Here are a few "somethings' I've been up to....
Something I Made ...
The painting below has been on my easel for almost two months, but is finally finished. It took this long because it's a big one - 4ft.x5ft. It has been filling the studio with so much happiness as it dries on the easel!
Thoughts or images that came to min as I painted this:
sun-filled days working in the garden
relationships, and how good it is to have friends from different backgrounds and perspectives
the complexity of women - feminine, tender, strong, bold, unique
The old Hymn, "Take My Life and Left It Be Consecrated, Lord, to Thee"
How is that for getting inside my mind?! The thought processes I go through while I paint have a huge influence on the painting. Can you sense any of that as you see this piece?

I Would Love Your Help
I haven't named this one yet. Now that you've seen the painting and heard my thought process - would you be willing to share some name ideas with me? Respond to this email with your ideas. If I choose your title, I will send you a notecard set as a "thank you"!

Something New I am Offering ....
Autumn is pumpkin season and I am offering custom floral pumpkins. You choose the color palette you would like and some of your favorite flowers and I will paint them onto a paper machete pumpkin, making it perfect for celebrating Fall, year after year. I have time for three spots available, message me for more details.
Something I Am Working On ...
This is part two of one of the most special commissioned pieces I have ever worked on. Part of this painting was painted a few years back with the certain elements to be added at a later date. That time is now. You can read about this amazing story behind this special piece here...

Something New on the Website ...
Stickers! I've got new stickers now available. These durable, waterproof vinyl stickers are perfect for waterbottles, computer covers, and notebooks and loved by both kids and adults.
I always like to have extras set aside to add to birthday cards and gift baskets. you can nab yours here...

Something I loved doing this Summer ...
On a personal note, something that I got to do over the Summer that I hope I never take for granted, is to spend time with my grandkids. I feel so fortunate to have all five of them close by and am thankful that Summer provides lots of time together. And of course, we love doing projects in the studio! This picture is of my two grandsons who both attended my kids Summer art camps.
Finally, I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you all for following along on the little creative journey. I never take for granted the encouraging messages, "likes" and shares.
Thank you!
Julia
