It all started with a Spring morning walk through my garden area. My barefeet took a step onto a mossy patch and a hundred memories came flooding through my mind: Hours spent in the garden of my childhood, a garden lovingly created and cared for by my mother. And with these memories, came such realization that the garden taught me so many lessons that I carry with me today.
Out of these memories came a small painting series. Part celebration of the earliest of seasons, with it's fresh flowering branches and feeling of new starts, and part tribute to my Mother, an artist, writer and creative soul, who taught me to love and see in the simplest of things, beauty. This is My Mother's Garden.

The first in this series, "the Golden Hour" surrounded by items of significance, each one, such a part of the creation of these paintings: moss that brought up so many memories of walkingthrough that childhood garden, simple flora, because my mother always loved the simplest of blooms, odds and ends of nature, full of texture and design, because she always saw beauty in the simplest of things. Also included - a scratch piece of paper of a note I had writtten years ago and had hung on my "creative inspriation board" in my studio. (scroll down to see the words of the note).
